Depending on the county in which your divorce is filed, temporary spousal support maybe determined according to a computer generated program which considers a number of factors, including but not limited to the monthly gross income of both spouses. The family courts have wide discretion to consider the supported spouse's need for support and the supporting spouse's ability to pay. The purpose of temporary spousal support is to maintain the living conditions of the parties as close to the status quo position as possible pending trial and the division of marital assets and debts.
